Schedule
- Women's events: Thursday and Friday
- Men's events: Saturday and Sunday
- Doors open at 8 a.m.; fencing runs roughly 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The format change
For the first time, the NCAA awards a standalone women's three-weapon team title, separate from the men's. Under the previous combined scoring, a single team champion was crowned from men's and women's results together — a system that disadvantaged programs fielding women's-only squads.

- Six events: women's and men's epee, foil and saber
How the competition is run
Each weapon brings 24 fencers into a round-robin of five-touch bouts. Team scoring comes from wins in those five-touch bouts. The top four fencers in each weapon then advance to a 15-touch bracket — semifinals and a final — to settle the individual championship.
That two-stage design is worth understanding before watching. The morning and midday fencing decides the team title; the short bracket at the end decides the individual medals. A fencer can be central to a team championship without appearing in a final.
What it means for a young saber fencer
Collegiate fencing is a genuine destination, and saber is one of the three weapons scored at every NCAA championship. The path there runs through consistent domestic results, a training schedule that survives a full school year, and enough five-touch bouting experience that a round-robin day feels normal rather than exhausting.
