February 2026 Board Meeting: Sirota Appointed; Single Logo Approved

The USA Fencing Board of Directors met for roughly three hours on Feb. 14, 2026 in Cincinnati, during the February NAC.

One logo for the whole sport

The Board approved moving to a single USA Fencing logo, unifying the Parafencing and able-bodied marks. The decision followed consultation with members, board members, committees and athletes, and reflects both FIE and Para practice.

Rollout is intended to be cost-effective and to begin in 2026–27, with a sneak peek and merchandise at Summer Nationals.

Jeremy Sirota appointed At-Large Director

The Board appointed Jeremy Sirota as an At-Large Director, with a term beginning Sept. 1, 2026. He is a foil parent, serves on the board of Fencers Club in New York City, and brings a background spanning law, technology, music and media, including roles at Meta and Merlin, plus experience on membership-organization boards.

Points Task Force seated

Following a presentation on restructuring qualification, the Board seated a Points Task Force made up of elite coaches, elite athletes, tournament operations staff and parents, with roughly six weeks to reach consensus.

The Board also affirmed that international selection criteria will not change before LA28, and directed staff to build a communications plan around the points work.

Divisions and referee governance

Division boundaries were updated, and North Dakota was chartered.
Donald Alperstein was appointed as the Board's representative on the Referee Commission Nominating Committee ahead of the May Referees' Commission election.

Points and qualification structure determines which events matter for a fencer's season; division boundaries determine where regional results come from; referee governance shapes the officiating your fencer meets on the strip.
