2026 USA Fencing Election Results: Nona Lim and Greg Husisian Elected to the Board

USA Fencing members have elected Nona Lim and Greg Husisian as at-large directors on the Board of Directors. Both serve four-year terms running Sept. 1, 2026 through Aug. 31, 2030.

Nona Lim

Lim is an athlete and a fencing parent who competed for the U.S. Veteran World Team, including at the 2024 Veteran World Championships in Dubai. Outside the sport she is an entrepreneur who founded and grew a national food company before selling it, and she is a former Board Chair of the Specialty Food Association.

She returned to fencing after more than a decade away, drawn back through the U.S. veteran community. In her candidate statement she named three priorities: the referee pipeline, transparency and accountability, and sustainable growth.

Greg Husisian

Husisian is a fencing parent who chairs the USA Fencing Ethics Committee and was a founding member of the Parents' Council. Professionally he is a litigation partner. Within the fencing community he writes the "What Every Fencing Parent Should Know" blog and runs seminars for new parents at NACs.

His stated priorities pair the fencing-parent perspective with experience handling complex governance matters.

How the seats were filled

Three at-large seats were open this cycle. Under the Bylaws, two are elected by the membership and one is appointed by the Board. Jeremy Sirota, a music executive and fencing parent, was appointed in February to the vacant at-large seat; his term also begins Sept. 1, 2026.

The seats were previously held by Molly Hill, Damien Lehfeldt, and Abdel Salem OLY–EGY.

The path to the ballot ran through a nomination window, an initial slate from the Nominating Committee plus petition candidates, and then a final ballot of seven candidates competing for two seats.

Turnout and the counting method

The general election ran May 13 through May 31, 2026, closing at 11:59 p.m. ET. A total of 3,323 ballots were cast, a turnout of 19.80%. In 2024, 2,334 of 12,092 eligible members voted, a turnout of 19.30%.

Board elections use a Borda Count as required by the Bylaws, so voters rank candidates and points are awarded by rank rather than counting first choices alone. The full point breakdown was published with the results on the official USA Fencing page.

What this means for saber families

Both incoming directors come from the parent and veteran side of the sport rather than solely from elite competition, and both named referee development and transparency as concerns. Those are the two issues DMV saber families raise most often about national events.
