How USA Fencing Points Work for Saber: Trial Rankings, Best Six, and Elite vs Challenger

USA Fencing points decide seeding and which national field a saber fencer enters. On Aug. 1, 2026, Cadet, Junior, and Division I switched to a Trial points list that sits next to the older Legacy lists.

Trial points cover domestic ranking, tournament seeding, and Elite vs Challenger eligibility at national events for Cadet, Junior, and Division I, on a two-year trial. Legacy points remain the system of record for Team Points Standings, Rolling Points Standings, and World Team selection through at least the 2028–29 season.

For each of Cadet, Junior, and Division I there is one unified Trial list, and a fencer's total is the sum of their six best individual results from sanctioned events over a one-year rolling window. Youth, Veteran, and Para categories are not part of the Trial.
