What the program offers
The Benefits Center provides access to optional health, vision, and dental coverage. USA Fencing built it in partnership with Big Green Insurance, and the carriers named in the announcement include Anthem (which may not be available in all states), Cigna, Delta Dental, and VSP.
Who can enroll
Individual members with an active USA Fencing membership can explore plans and enroll. Club owners may also enroll organizationally to provide coverage for employees and staff.
That second path is the meaningful one for the club side of the sport. Coaching has historically been a field where full-time staff, part-time coaches, and independent contractors piece together their own coverage. A group pathway through the national governing body changes the options available to small clubs.
Why USA Fencing built it
CEO Phil Andrews said the program addresses a need in the fencing community for accessible, quality health insurance.
Plans vary by person and place
USA Fencing notes that plans vary by location and age. Members are directed to visit the portal and, if helpful, speak with a USA Fencing Benefit Advisor rather than assume a given plan or carrier is available where they live.
Privacy and the limits of USA Fencing''s role
Three points from the announcement matter here:
- Participation is entirely optional.
- Enrollment, data handling, and administration are managed by Big Green Insurance.
- USA Fencing does not collect, access, or track health data, and receives no financial benefit from member participation.
In other words, this is an access program, not an insurance product USA Fencing itself sells or profits from.

What saber families should take from this
If you are a fencing parent with employer coverage, this likely does not change anything for you. It matters most to two groups: coaches, especially part-time and independent coaches who buy their own coverage, and club owners who want to offer benefits without building a group plan from scratch. If you fall into either group, the portal and a conversation with a Benefit Advisor are the next step.
It also fits a broader pattern in USA Fencing''s 2026 member-services work: more value attached to membership itself, alongside the fee changes and program updates announced for the 2026–27 season.
