What the program covers
Coverage for sanctioned activity is matched or improved compared with the prior program, with limits that meet or exceed previous levels. New member benefits are available at member pricing.
A carrier model instead of a broker model
Golden by Corgi is a protection program built for national sports governing bodies, backed by Corgi, a full-stack insurance carrier. That structure differs from the traditional approach, where a broker assembles coverage across multiple insurance companies. Here underwriting, certificates and claims sit under one roof.
For club operators, that difference is mostly felt in the routine work: who issues a certificate of insurance when a school or rec center asks for one, and who answers when a claim is filed. One organization handling all three steps generally means fewer handoffs.
Member webinar
USA Fencing scheduled a member webinar for Tuesday, July 21, covering the program, its benefits, certificates and claims.
Why insurance is a real issue for clubs
Insurance is invisible to most fencers and central to every club. A facility lease usually requires proof of coverage at specific limits. A school hosting an outreach clinic asks for a certificate naming it as additionally insured. A tournament host needs sanctioned-event coverage in place before entries open. When any of that stalls, programming stalls with it.
For coaches and officials, the relevant part is coverage while working sanctioned activity — the classes, competitions and events that run under USA Fencing's umbrella.
What club families should know
Nothing about how you train changes. The practical items worth knowing:
- Coverage for sanctioned activity continues without a gap from August 1.
- Clubs that need certificates for facilities or schools request them through the new program.
- Membership remains the mechanism that puts coverage in place for sanctioned activity, which is one more reason to keep it current.
