Y-12 and Division II on the same day

A NAC schedule regularly puts eleven-year-olds and adults in the same building on the same morning. Y-12 events are often a fencer's first exposure to a national field, while Division II is where fencers rated D and below meet — a genuinely competitive bracket that rewards fencers who have built a season of results rather than a single peak.

Saber results worth noting

Andrew Yi took Y-12 Men's Saber and Catherine Kim won Division II Women's Saber. Those two events sit at opposite ends of the development curve, and both were decided by the same things saber always rewards: distance, timing on the preparation, and the discipline to keep attacking simply when a bout gets tight.

Planning a first NAC weekend

If Day 2 results make a national event look appealing, treat the logistics as part of the preparation. Fencers need equipment checked ahead of time, a labeled spare weapon and body cord, food that travels, and a realistic expectation that the day will be long. Every champion on this list spent hours in the venue before their medal bout.
